Don't use Social Media to say your going on holidays, only that you've been.
As we now enter the Summer Holidays people will be thinking about what to do and where to go for a break without spending too much money.
We were watching the BBC news this morning and Simon Calder the Travel correspondent of ‘The Independent’ said that he has not seen so many holidays priced at such good value for years.
Also stating that some current deals available are quite surprising in terms of value for money, even cruises seem to have held at last year’s prices.
Simon Calder also said it is currently possible for a family of 4 to book a holiday during the school holidays for about £1000 in Greece all inclusive, which was the same price last year. He was very enthusiastic and encouraged people to look for deals and offers which are available at the moment.
So does this mean that affordable holidays are coming back? Is this the time to find the passports get the suitcases down from the loft and start planning for a nice break in a sun soaked country?
All of the major travel companies are now offering deals and offers , newspapers like the Sun offer budget holidays in the United Kingdom and as budgets are getting squashed at the moment more and more families are taking advantage .
A warning though! You may be excited and all happy that you are going abroad or booking a holiday in the United Kingdom but don’t announce on Facebook and Twitter. We are amazed at the amount of people who tell people that they are going on holiday and put status updates on.
Burglars may only need to look and see that you have told people that you are going away.
A survey by a leading insurance company Co-Operative Travel looked at messages such as “packing my cases “and “just landed “found that they were able to track down the location of the person within 60 seconds by doing checks on publically available databases.
The problem is that people are addicted to Social Media with children being the worst offenders who often unknowingly advertise where you are.
So the days of telling the neighbour you are going away and keeping an eye on your property and having timer switches to switch your lights on and off are not enough. You now need to make sure that you tell your children not to update their holiday don’t brag and wait till you are back home before posting your pictures.
